I have a X476dw all in one printer that sets an error message at start up of 0xc6fd0613 The printer was purchased in October of 2013 and gets minimal use. Is this a common issue and do I need to return it to HP for repairs?

You could try this document for suggestions:

Otherwise if you are still under warranty then it would probally be best to call this one into HP for support.

Thank you for the response. Looks like I need to contact support and find out if it is still under warranty.

Fuzzy, just so you know that error is in regards to the printbar, and instead of having HP walk you through or wasting time trying to get it resolved, have them swap the machine, as I am sure this is one of the first series models. It is a known defect, also you can go to HP website, under support, type in the serial and you should see quicker if the machine is still under warranty or not. Plus you can probably chat with support online, it is faster than trying to wait on hold.

Hope this helps.....

The printer needs to be replaced and you will need to return the printer because HP does not fix that problem onsite (at least not in the North East), it should still be under warranty until Oct 2014.  Whe have 4 of these and all have been replaced, one 3x for the same error.  HP has never told us the cause and am dealing with another x451 that just bricked 3 days ago with the same error.

Your options for repair/replacement are:

1 - Bring to a service center (I live near boston and nobody within a 90 mile radus services these printers)

2 - Depot repair, what we've had to do, 8-14 day turnaround, you pay shipping to HP, they pay the return, hope you saved your box!

3 - 24 hour replacement, if you bought the extended service contract/warranty HP will overnight one and you return yours in that box, no shipping charges, if you don't have that coverage you can purchase it, will cost around $400 but then you will be covered for another year of future replacements... which if you plan to keep the printer might be a good idea as you will have this problem again.

From my experience it usually takes 10-20 days from when you open a case until you get the ok from HP to return it, then a 10 day turnaround time from the depot.  The meaningless hoops support has you jump through take a long time becaue after you complete one it takes them a day or three to respond with a new hoop, they call and end up leaving me messages at 3am, calling back does not speed up the process  since you can never talk to the same person twice... you usually waste at least 30 to an hour on hold and getting the phone jockeys up to speed... if you have job and can't wait around for the random return call and then have to go to the printer location to do the same meaningless resets & tests every time then too bad for you.

Good luck.

Some of these are covered under a Service Notice that extends the warranty, if the serial number starts with CN36 or lower you might be in luck.
