Raja_gj,

I am sorry you are having that error.

1.) Can I get the product number on the unit you're talking about?

I have been using my HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color M451dn for several years.

It has served me well, and was working yesterday.

Now I see a message PCL XL Error, Illegal Attribute, Kerlib.c, 8904

I tried turning off the printer and now it will only print this error page.  Restarting the computer ended the printing, but when I tried to test print something again, the same error page started printing again, over and over.

I gather I need to replace the driver.  But I would like to be directed to the right one.  Windows 7, 32 Bit.

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/

I have included a  link for the drivers and the firmware update for the printer.

Hope that helps.

I have the same printer. HP laserjet 400 color pro M451

Only by one pdf print, (from the national bank),  I get the same problems.

Kerlib c  8904.

I have update  the firmware and de driver. The problem still exist.

Other pdf''s or other documents will print very well.

Maybe the security of the pdf and the printerdriver?

I hope to read a solution.

I bought the printer from someone else. I haven't a guarantee.

I have found what the problem was.

The pdf was made with the format "letter"

The printer has only A4.

The check "select paper source based on the pdf file" was on.

I put this check off  and the problem was over.

If I copy a PDF to a folder and open and print it from there, that seems to help. I also need to restart the printer and make sure it initializes; that sometimes requires unplugging the printer after turning it off.

Hi Frie

I just wanted to say thank you for your post on here as your advice resolved my problem as well.

When trying to print a pdf file I was getting the following error message from my HP3600n (and I use Windows 8): -

PCL XL error

Subsystem: Kernel

Error: Illegal Attribute Value

Operator: Vendor Unique

Position: 7

I also deselected the print option that reads "Choose paper source by PDF page size" and it printed the file fine.

Thank you so much.
