HP Deskjet F4480
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Every time I send in a print job (including when I tried to print a test page) my printer feeds the top sheet of paper about halfway through the printer and then just stops and flashes the 'reload paper' light/button.

If I push any button, it feeds the rest of that piece of paper through, then sucks up the next sheet halfway and the process repeats.

I have restarted it countless times, made sure the printer tray is in correctly, tried putting the paper in the feeder tray at varying distances from where it gets pulled in by the printer. At no point during this cycle does anything get printed on any sheets of paper, except as noted below.  Things I have Done: Cleaned Paper feed, Reinstalled drivers and software....Sometimes it will print a test sheet or maybe print something. I think its fixed, then the above process repeats!!!!!

@dduns

Thank you for joining the HP Support Community

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you facing the same issue while making a copy?

However, I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/details/hp-deskjet-f4400-all-in-one-printer-series/model/374208...

Restart the printer.
