The problem might be the brightness settings on your monitor are distorting what the photo looks like, so that it prints darker than it appears on the screen. Never hurts to try and remedy the problem though. This document will take you through everything you can do to improve the print quality. Let me know what happens.

Cartridges are hp and the levels are good. I doubt any of these solutions will work, ink modules are clean.
alignment doesn't matter in this case. Prints are five shades too dark, none of these solutions deal with photo prints.
I can't tell you how much paper I've wasted trying to print and reprint from all in one printers.
I'm not new to this, I have aligned the heads and cleaned them through the printer, and done test prints on which everything is working fine.
They all malfunction eventually. I think I will just use shutterfly or fotki, prices are cheap and no nonsense spending tons of money on ink and paper.

Hi. There is no chance that my monitor is not right, I have been editing and viewing photos, and printing them
For years with no problems. Even on this printer. It is hp paper, up ink, so I doubt that it's my monitor.
The paper may be old, butnow I have to buy more paper to test it. Which I don't think I will do.
The prints wouldn't.t be so dark, even with old paper. Looks like there's just too much black going into the picture.
Any other ideas? I don.t need to see the same document again.

The software that controls the print quality does not allow for individual ink management unfortunately. The only color control option that I could find was the HP Real Life Technologies. You can turn off that feature, which should allow the computer to control the color management, or vica versa if it's not on. If you have trouble finding it, let me know what OS you have and I will point you to the feature.

@gerrybw Your printer's software has more advanced options than the C410e. The software will let you decide wether the color management is controled by the printer, the computer or is disabled to allow the program to controll it.
To alter the color managment options for the 7510:
- Click on the start menu.
- Click on Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your printer.
- Select Printing Preferences.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Change the ICM Method to a different setting.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Test picture printing with the new setting.
- Repeat for each setting, or untill each one is tried.
Let me know if that works or not.
@Geoliebert Below are the instructions to find the HP Real Life Technology setting.
- Click on the start menu.
- Click on Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your printer.
- Select Printing Preferences.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- You should see the HP Real Life Technology setting at the top of the window.
- If it's checked, uncheck it and visa versa.
If that doesn't work, you may want to try using the Deskjet 990c driver. You can find the directions to assign it linked below. Let me know what happens.
