HP Photosmart 5514
Chrome OS

    Hello,

I am currently using a Asus Chromebook and an HP 5514 photosmart printer.  I can go through the network setup wizard with no problems.  It's when I go to start the eprint services I start having issues.  I get all the way to the "check for updates" prompt.  I press yes and this error comes up:

"Server Connection Error"

"The printer was unable to connect to the server. Check the Internet connection and try again, or enter a proxy address."

I have accessed the the admin panel by pressing back, home, back, x, back and completed a full reset.

I have also accessed my router and did a complete factory reset on it as well.  Nothing seems to work. It feels like it is a software issue on the printer.  Please help.

Make sure you have the latest firmware installed.  There was a change in the Web Services servers in Septermber 2016 that discontinued support for a number of printer models.  The models still supported may require a firmware update.
