I purchased a used HP Photosmart 7510 and replaced the black and Photo cartridges, which it said were empty, with a bit of ink left in the other 3 cartridges.

I've run the printhead cleaner, but the printer's LCD says the new cartridges are still empty, although the printer's web page and the PC Toolbox both say those cartridges are full. The printer also acknowledged that new cartridges had been installed.

I've checked that the cartridges are seated. Still, it prints blank pages.

Anyone have this problem and find a solution? Will I have to replace the printhead?

Thanks.

Hi DSimone,

I understand the printer is working but the pages that print are blank, I can certainly help you with this. Bob_Headrick wrote a great post about this very issue. Please take a look at the following link. Re: black ink not working.

Please let me know if the issue persists, or if I can be of further assistance. Thanks.

Thank you. I followed the procedure and soaked the printhead and reinstalled the cartridges, and it printed magenta, blue and what looks like purple borders with magenta in the center. Printing a test page from the PC got the top title vaguely visible in magenta, but the rest of the page appears blank. So basically black and probably yellow are not printing.

I removed the cartridges and cleaned under the cartridges (using q-tips and coffee filters) as recommended in http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Ink-Toner-Cartridge-Printhead-Issues/Photosmart-7510-Black-Ink-Cartridg...

Now I get an error message "General Printer Error 0x610000f6" and I can go no further since no matter what I do, this message blocks everything. Post http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02959380 hasn't been much help, since there's no paper jam and all the other steps do not work, so I'm at a dead end.

I just received this used printer and installed new black and photo cartridges from HP's web site. I really don't want to pay for servicing, so do you have any further suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi DSimone,

I am sorry to hear the issue is persisting and now you are getting an error message. I found a great video on YouTube. The recommended steps are similar to the steps you have already performed, but consider giving this a try. Hot Water Printhead Flush - HP Ink Series Printers with removable Printhead.

Fingers crossed!
