I have a Photosmart 7525 and am trying to print 3x5 envelopes from MS Word 2013. When I go to print the document, it will only let me select the photo paper tray and will only let me select photo as the paper type. I want to set it to plain paper and use the best quality using only black ink. When I manually change the settings and click "OK" it reverts back to the defaults. I'm not sure how to do it. These are for RSVP replies in my wedding invitations. Any ideas?

Thanks for all the input!! I just figured it out!!

In Word, I changed the page layout from "L 3x5" to "Index Card 3x5". I had to mess with the margins a little, but it's allowing me to print teh way I want.

Hi,

Please try:

  • Open new blank Word document,
  • Click "Mailings" (on the top)
  • Click "Envelopes" (left side)
  • Click "Options"
  • Select 3 x 5 (on the list or move down to the end then select Custom size).
  • Enter "Delivery address" and "Return Address" then print.

Regards.

Word also won't let me print on an envelope of that size. It needs to be at least 6 inches wide. I have setup a generic blank document and set the size as 3x5. It will let me print it, but only as a photo, not as a document.

Rocco,

Pardon my jumping in -- I am not sure about the parameters in play here and mean not to offend.  Smiling.

My initial feeling is that this should work -- and then there is a moment when it just becomes a pain and bother about why it does not work.

Thoughts on getting the address onto the envelope:

Do you care whether this prints as an image or document as long as the contents print on the envelope?

Take a snip of the document and print the contents onto the envelope.

It might be worth a try.

I would practice on paper before sacrificing a fancy envelope to the test.

The main reason I have an issue that it's printing as a photo/image, is that it's using the photo ink. I have a couple of the XL sized standard black ink cartridges that I purchased just for this. I can get it to print, in the photo tray, but it's using the more expensive ink intead of the stuff that's actually made for documents.

Hi,

Word won't allow to use 3 x 5, too small. It automatically sets the minimum

Tha above images show my test using Word and the minimum. That means you can't use Word. There are few commercial software around for printing envelopes and the following is free:

I have not tried it. Hope this helps.
