Refer to the posts on pages 6 & 7 of this thread for which capacitors to buy, places to buy them, even a video how to get to the circuit board. There are several hints on this thread. Take the time and go back to review them. The printer is not bad, the capacitors are bad.

I tried your instructions for the problem with the poser-up/power down problem - loops on/off/on/off etc. at first it did not work I had to try it a few times. when it seemed as though the printer was going to stay on it kept going off again. I just left it alone for about 10 minutes and it finally went on and stayed on. Hopefully you have solved the problem....If not I will be back for additional help. Thanks so much for the help for now.

The problem with the On/Off cycle is in capacitors on powerboard, as was described in earlier posts. Thanks to that post I fixed my printer by replacing two capacitors. And recently I had the similar On/Off problem with my Samsung 46" LCD TV. So, I fixed LCD TV by replacing two bad capacitors on power board too ($4 total).

Changing the two capacitors : 330 uf worked for me. I put in a 16 volt rating and it worked. Thank you for those whom came up with this solution. Taking it in to be fixed probably would have cost me around $200. This only cost me around 90 cents. Its a good printer and I did not want to go to the trouble of setting up a new one. From reading the comments here. It sounds like HP have put in an inferior capacitor for this model. Hopefully this will last for another 2 years.
