Officejet Pro 8620
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My printer (8620) is hooked up wirlessly to two computers. Everytime I print something it makes me save the document first, then I have to open it in the file the doc was saved to in order to print.

How can I bypass this annoying feature? I just want to print, not save every document before I can print it. Please help!

I figured it out. Hopefully we can help others who come across this same issue.

When you go to print and the print window comes up, if the options are “save”- “cancel” instead of “print”- “cancel”

You must “Change” the destination (default was save PDF) Click the “Change” button and select the printer you are using, DONE!

Hi,

That is nothing to do with your printer, it is from Word. Which version of Word are you using ?

Regards.

Hi,

Please hit Ctrl+P to see what is your current default printer . You need to make your printer as default.

The 8620 is my defult printer. I replaced my 8600 with the 8620 and now when I go to print the option is save or cancel not print or cancel. I never had this issue with the 8600. It's just a bit frustrating, I'm sure there's a solution. I'm a little tech savvy but this one is stumping me.

@CJFerg

@banhien is right in that the Default Printer setup may be the culprit.

If there is any other hidden / uninstalled printer software on the system from a previous printer, or even old ex-printer folders still around, then apparently there have been instances where the system does not pick up the currently selected "Default" printer.  It is a tangle in the Operating System.

How to fix?  Not sure, try making sure that all previous printer software is installed and that there are not any floating (left over) "old" printer folders lying about.

Next, Restart Everything, including the router.

Another place to double-check > Word Options (Word 2013):

Open Word document > File > Options > Display >

Under Printing Options > CHECK Update fields before printing > OK
