Which HP genius developer thought it is a good thing to create tasks checking printer status that are set to wake up the PC??

I see on the internet this is an issue for many people for years without HP addressing it properly.

Why are the "HP Print Scan Doctor" tasks in taskscheduler set with the option "Wake the computer to run this task". What the hell are your delopers thinking, waking a PC to check printer status? Seriously **bleep**?

When I disable the wake option in the tasks, after some time it is back.

I checked this solution: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/NT-TASK-HP-HP-Print-Scan-Doctor-Printer...

But this is complete nonsese. I just uninstalled everything, but when I installed the HP "smart" app, the tasks are back with "Wake the computer" option enabled again.

This is ridiculous.

Here's a solution:

  • Open the Task Scheduler
  • Go to (on the left box) Task Scheduler Library > HP > HP Print Scan Doctor
  • On the right, under Actions > Selected Item, click Properties
  • Go to the Conditions tab
  • Under Power, uncheck Wake the computer to run this task
