Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I installed Office 2016 on my Dell N5010 a few months ago. Since that time I have been unable to print some documents. Office 2016 included a PDF program. If I am lucky, I can go to printer properties and click on "Print as Image." Sometimes this does work to get the document printed.

There must be an easier way to print items. I should be able to go to print and my printer should work. Any advise will be appreciated.

Thank You

Tom

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

How is your printer connected?

If it's connected via wireless, can you try this:

Can you try using a TCP/IP port?

Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Let us know if that works

I am connected via USB. I am sure the problem is linked to the PDF program when I installed Office 2016. I will attempt the solution  you suggested and let you know if that works.

When I attempt to print the printer icon comes up in the right hand corner, but it says "0 documents pending." Sometimes I get an error message that says "Printer not ready?"

Hi,

Have you tried using another PDF reader? (e.g. Adobe Reader or PDF Reader)

Able to print?

Thanks.

I can print if I convert the document to a PDF file, but I have to go into advanced settings can click on "Print as image." I can print documents that are already in PDF.
