My printer is a HP LJ 3050 all in one.  Under printer preferences, the "Paper/Quality" tab shows that under "special pages", I am requesting both "covers" and  print pages on different paper".  I don't know how those choices got there, don't want them and am unable to find a way to remove them.  I need help!  I have Windows XP home edition

@kengolf, I would leave it alone for the time being.

Removal of the old driver should not be necessary.

Since you are running XP, do you know that in April/2014 Microsoft will no longer be supporting it.

Explain what you mean by keeps printing please.  Do you mean that it will not stop printing the cover page and the only way to get it to stop is to turn it off?

Also, you have a Commerical LaserJet.  You may want to post your question in the HP Enterprise Business Community to get exposure to other owners of this product and the experts who work on them.

Try performing a hard reset and complete power drain of the unit for at least one whole minute. If that doesn't help, I will also need to know how the printer is connected (USB, wireless, or Ethernet).

I hope I can help.

Thanks, Visionary, for your help. What I should have said:  When I try to print a document, I always have a blank cover sheet processed by the printer before the document is printed.  There is nothing on the blank cover sheet, just a blank piece of paper.

I am unaware that I have a commercial LaserJet.  I am 86 years old and use it at my home for strictly personal purposes. I don't even know what a "hard reset" is; nor what a complete power drain is (unless you mean by disconnecting the printer).

The printer is directly connected to a USB hub which is connected to my computer.  I believe it is a 2.0 hub.  It is not wireless or ethernet)  Hope this helps in understanding my problem.

I completely understand.  I actually originally posted about the wrong printer so I wanted to quickly edit my steps before I was embarassed that you read them.  I will gladly help you with this printer.  Thank you for asking.

Hard reset means to unplug the powercord from the back of the printer while it is powered on.  Next, remove the power cord from the outlet and wait one whole minute (power drain) before plugging it back in directly into a wall outlet and then in the back of the printer.

I have more steps for you I just wanted to clarify those steps first.

If the hard reset/power drain did not fix this problem for you, then it may be that you have setup in your software you print from to print a cover page first.  What are you printing in (Microsoft Word, from the internet, etc)?

Also, what is the name of the driver you select when you print?  If you are selecting the name of the printer then you may want to try installing a Universal Print Driver (this link is to what is called a PCL6 English-version for Windows XP 32-bit OS universal driver).  Download and install this software and connect to your printer using this driver instead if you are not already.

I hope this helps!

@kengolf, does your 3050 Printing Preferences look like this?

Yes, my 3050 Printing Preferences looks almost identical; however, there are a few differences.

1.  Mine says "Special Pages" not Use different paper/covers

a.  In the box below that, two choices are made:  1) "Covers" and 2) "Print pages on different paper".

Below this box is a "Settings" box.  When I click on that "Settings", an entire new page is displayed which offers me the option of "add a blank or preprinted cover" and below that the option of: placing it "front", "back" or "both".  I can find no option for deleting the cover or for NONE.  I believe the answer is on this page but I can't decipher it.

@kengolf, is there a check box next to Special Pages?

Not on the Preferences:  Paper/Quality there is only the "Settings" box.  Not on the Special Pages page either. (only the Front, Back or BothSpecial Pages.jpg
