Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Recently, while trying to print a document my printer won't fully print the document. My printer has mostly full black ink and color cartridge, and when I try to print a Word document some words will come out as if I'm printing with low black ink cartridges levels.

Hey @monotonesarcasm,

Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I see that you are having issues with printing documents from your Windows 7 PC to your Deskjet 3050A. I can help you with that.

First, the issue you are describing sounds like it is likely one or two different issues. To see which it is we'll print a report via the printer. To do so:

  1. On the product control panel, press Setup ().
  2. Press the button () next to the Down Arrow () to select Tools, and then press the button () next to OK.
  3. Press the button () next to the Down Arrow () to select Printer Status Report, and then press the button () next to OK.

If this prints with no issues then you have a software issue. If it does not print properly then you have a hardware issue.

For a Software Issue

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Close all programs you have open.
  3. Click on Start and go to Devices and Printers.
  4. In this window right click on the picture of your printer.
  5. Left click on Remove Device.
  6. If you have a USB connection to the printer then turn the printer on.
  7. If you have a wireless connection to the printer then turn the printer on and click on Add a Printer at the top of the screen. Follow the prompts in this window to add the printer back.
  8. Try printing again from Word. If this doesn't print then try printing from another program.
  9. If you can print from Word then everything should be fine for printing. If you are unable to print from Word then you have an issue with Word.

For a Hardware Issue

  1. This document will assist you with troubleshooting the cartridges - Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Deskjet 3050A (J611) All-in-One Printer Series - Feel free to skip the step regarding printing a status report, we did that step already.
  2. If you get to the part that asks you to replace the cartridges then you will need to Contact HP Support. On this page scroll to the bottom and you will find a form to fill out. If the cartridges are genuine, non-refilled cartridges that are in warranty HP can replace them.

If this resolves your issue then please let others know by clicking on Accept as Solution beside my post. If you have any other questions then please let me know by replying to this thread.

I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!
