Product: HP ENVY 4520
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My brand new HP ENVY 4520 won't print text from notepad++ or MS Word. HOwever, it will print color photos.

 

I took a screen shot of the black and white text in MS Word, and it printed! What gives? I just got this printer yesterday and I need to print out some important documents.

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve black not printing on your Envy 4520 printer.

 

In a pinch you can operate the printer in single cartridge mode as described in page 33 of the user guide.  Remove the black cartridge and set it aside, the printer will switch to using the color cartridge to print the black text.
