LaserJet Pro MFP 277 Mdw
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Had an HP LaserJetPro MFP127 Mfw, which worked fine with Windows 7.1 as well as Windows 10,  When  Windows 10 crashed my computer, I had it reformatted and Windows 7 professional installed.

My LJP MFP 127 would no longer print from my computer, but would print from the web.  I installed my printer as a wireless printer, and it maintained connection well.

Since I was having so much trouble printing from the computer, I purchased a new printer today - a LaserJetPro MFP 277 Mdw, hoping that would resolve the issue.  I loaded the software from HP site, and it installed and I could print from both the web and from my computer.

I left the computer for an hour or so, and now the printer will not print from the computer again.

...It shows no error messages,

...I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it successfully printed a test page, and showed no error messages.

...The printer does not show that it is offline, and shows a current connection to the modem.

Can someone please help me understand why I am unable to print from my computer, after it was successful after installation, and shows no other problems.

Hi @KCHERNA,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you're unable to print to your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw Printer. I would be happy to look into this with you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

I understand that the printer doesn't show any indication why it will not print.

In order for me to assist you better, I may require more information.

I see that the older printer was wireless, I'm assuming that the new one is also?

Even though the printer is not reporting "Offline", I would try the steps within this document

In addition to those steps, I would try the following.

Tips for successful wireless connection:

  • What encryption type are you using? HP recommends WPA or WPA2.
  • Use a unique network name (SSID).
  • Avoid using Mac Address Filtering on the router.
  • Make sure you have 802.11g enabled.
  • The printer cannot connect to the 5.0 GHz network. If you have a dual-band router, the 2.4 GHz, and 5.0 GHz network names should not be the same. Rename the 5.0 GHz network.
  • Do not hide your SSID (network name).
  • Change the router to a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, which has less traffic.
  • Do you have a switch or an additional router?
  • Do not use a guest network (SSID).
  • Disable UPnP on the router.
  • Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on the router.
  • Update the router's firmware.

Turn off IPV6 from the printer's front panel menu:

  1. Setup Menu
  2. Network Setup
  3. Network Services
  4. IPV6, Select Off.

If the issue persists, you might be experiencing an IP address conflict. It is a good idea to assign the printer a static IP address, outside your DHCP range. For example, some routers DHCP default range is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200. So, I would use 192.168.0.232.

To assign the static IP address, use these steps as a guideline.

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer's front panel menu. Note the printer's IPV4 IP address.
  2. Type the IP address into your internet browser to bring up the EWS.
  3. Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless on the left side, then select the IPv4 tab.
  4. Select Manual IP.
  5. Enter your manual IP address of (192.168.0.232)
  6. Enter  255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask, unless it is different.
  7. Enter your router's IP address which can be found on the Network Configuration Page) for the default gateway.
  8. Please click Manual DNS Server. For the Manual Preferred DNS Server please enter 8.8.8.8 and for the Manual Alternate DNS Server please enter 8.8.4.4.
  9. Click Apply.
  10. Reboot the router, printer, and computer.
  11. Test printing.

Ensure your router and firewall are not blocking these ports.

  • UDP ports: 427, 137, 161
  • TCP port: 9100
  • Photo card upload:
  • UDP ports: 137, 138, 427
  • TCP port: 139
  • Scanning:
  • UDP port: 427
  • TCP ports: 9220, 9500
  • HP device status:
  • UDP port: 161
  • Faxing:
  • UDP port: 427
  • TCP port: 9220
  • HP device installation:
  • UDP port: 427
  • Web Services Ports:
  • UDP and TCP: 80, 443, 5222, and 5223
  • Bonjour Ports:
  • UDP and TCP: 5353, 5297, and 5298

Update the printer's firmware:

  • Click here to download and install the printer's firmware update.
  • Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet (don't use a power bar or a surge protector).
  • Try printing wirelessly again.
  • Try installing the printer USB.

Hope this answers your question. Please respond to this post with the results. Thank you for posting!

Yes, the new printer is wireless also.
Encryption is WPA2
I have a unique Network name
The router is not a dual band
I'm not having trouble connecting to the router, and it does not drop the signal also I can print from the web with no problem.
In addition, this is the same router I used with my old printer and I had no problems printing from anywhere, until I went to Windows 10
and then formatted the computer, and returned to a full/new Win 7 installation. The old printer would print from Win 7 with no issues
but not this new installation and it also printed from Windows 10. However Windows 10 stalled many of my other programs and it became
harder and harder to function properly. The old printer would no longer print from Windows with the new 7 install.
I have updated firmware (no help)
My router is fixed to a lower traffic
I will explore setting a different static address - but this one was also not an issue before.
I will double check firewall settings again and any possible blocking that should not be.
I have not installed the printer USB - I believe that this may be my best option to try, before continuing any compromises or errors with
networking setup changes

Thank You for your help!

Hi @KCHERNA,

Thanks for getting back to me.

To clarify. the old printer wasn't able to print from Windows 10. So you downgraded to Windows 7 and still couldn't print. So you replaced the printer with HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw and still could not print from Windows 7? Is this correct?

It sounds like Windows is corrupted.

If the issue persists, I would try this solution.

This behavior occurs if existed printer drivers are corrupt.
I suggest that you remove all the installed printers and reinstall the Windows 7 printer drivers if available.

Remove a printer
1. Click the "Start" button, type PRINTER in the search box and press Enter.
2. Find the icons of installed printers, and delete them.
3. Right-click on the blank part of the window, and choose "Run as administrator"->"Server Properties".
4. On the Drivers tab, select the listed printers and click the Remove button. Please then select Remove driver and driver package.
5. Open Start menu, input APPWIZ.CPL in the Search box and press ENTER to launch "Programs and Features".
6. Try to remove all related printer software.
If the issue is not resolved, I suggest that you clear the printing sub system.

Step 1
======
Start Windows Explorer, and then rename all files and folders in the following two folders:
c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86
To rename a file, we can right click the file and select Rename.

Step 2
======
1. Click Start, type REGEDIT in the Start Search Bar, and then press ENTER.
2. Navigate to and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environment\Windows NT x86
View the list of subkeys. There should be only the following subkeys:
Drivers
Print Processors
If there are any keys other than those listed above, follow these steps:
a. On the File menu, click Export.
b. In the File Name box, type a descriptive name for this key -- for example, type WindowsNTx86regkey -- and then click Save to save it to your local Desktop.
We can use this backup of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environment\Windows NT x86 registry key to restore the key if you experience any problems after you complete this procedure.
c. Delete all keys other than Drivers and Print Processors.

Step 3
======
Navigate to and click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors registry key. View the list of subkeys. There should be only the following subkeys:
BJ Language Monitor
Local Port
Microsoft Document Imaging Writer Monitor
Microsoft Shared Fax Monitor
Standard TCP/IP Port
USB Monitor
WSD Port
If there are any keys other than those listed in above, follow these steps to delete them:
a. On the File menu, click Export.
b. In the File Name box, type a descriptive name for this key -- for example, type Monitorsregkey -- and then click Save to save it to your local Desktop.
We can use this backup of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors registry key to restore the key if you experience any problems after you complete this procedure.
c. Delete all keys other than the 5 listed above.

Step 4. Disconnect the printer cable from the computer, and then restart the computer.

Step 5. Reconnect the printer cable to the computer, install the printer according to the manufacturer's installation instructions, and then check if the issue persists.

You can also use these two articles to troubleshoot this issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000007
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933454

If all else fails, I would create a new administrator account and try again, Fix a corrupted user profile.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck! 🙂
