The printer will not print – at each attempt I get an error message: “The paper size detected by the printer sensor does not match the paper size selected in software…”.   However, the paper size specified (in every place I know to do so) is “letter”, and 8.5”  X  11”, which is the size of the loaded paper.   This was at first a sporadic problem, now consistent – nothing will print (except a “Self Test Diagnostic Page” DID print today).

Unfortunately, none of the suggested remedies:  "(1) Adjust the paper size setting;  (2) Check the paper source setting;  and  (3) Reset the Printer" ....... worked.     I'm still getting the same error message ....   I am using Windows 10, but I had printed for a while after using Windows 10 ..... and, in any case, I tried updating the firmware, to no avail.

Thanks for performing the troubleshooting.

 

As you mentioned that the issue still persists even after troubleshooting.

 

Please try creating custom paper size and check if the issue still persists.

 

Refer this article to know how to create custom paper size.
