Printer is showing the message 'Printhead damaged. Contact HP for support'. The printer is out of warranty. Is this something can be fixed or should I just buy a new printer?

Hello, @Hoverall - Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I understand that you are getting print head failure error on your Deskjet printer. Let’s try and perform a power drain on your printer to try and fix the issue:
- Remove the cartridges from the printer.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle and then insert the cartridges.
Now, try making a copy on the printer. Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
If the issue persists, also try performing a full factory reset on the printer. I am sending you a private message with the steps. Please check the mailbox icon at the top right corner of your screen to access your inbox.
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Cheers 🙂

Hello, @Boyle1
Thanks for reaching out! I'd like to help 🙂
Did you try the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2pu7zDt
If the issue persists, then you need to contact the HP phone support for getting the printer serviced or replaced.
You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
Hope that helps! Let me know!
Good luck 🙂
