Hi @Sittingduckz ,
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Please check your private messages for a reset to try.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
Please call our technical support if the issue persists, at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.
Contact HP.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Hi @Sittingduckz,
Usually it will just show that message for about 20-30 seconds.
Make sure the printer is connected to a wall outlet. Disconnect the power and try it again.
Are you still in warranty?

Same issue here - stuck on initializing, tried all that stuff (firmware update, power plug, removing all catridges and putting back in) - no success whatsoever
I think this product is just kinda crap by design and i have little hope that it is gonna help, but before going through the length of phone support and getting my money back in order to purchase working printer (this time, from a company other than HP, i assume) my last request is:
Could you please send me your "top secret" reset instructions via private message???
thank you very much!
