I've been using this laserjet printer for about a year with no problems. It prints normally but it has started to make a loud screeching noise while re-calibrating after the print job is completed.

Hi! @RondoMondo

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand that your printer is making a screeching noise while re-calibrating after the print jobs completed.

Don't worry I would like to help.

Did you make any changes on your printer?

Have you tried using a different toner, that item is prone to squeal especially if you use the remanufactured or refilled toners?

Try updating the printing firmware and check if it helps.

Please find the link to update printer firmware.

Let me know how it goes!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

Yes, I am using generic toners. I will replace with HP toners and see if that solves the problem.

Thank you.

@RondoMondo, Thanks for your response and time.

Kudos to you for trying out the steps.

Certainly, you can try with different toners and get back to us if the issue persists.

If you haven't used the printer for a little while then this would be normal behavior for the printer to do a calibration to make sure you get the proper print quality. If the printer was calibrating every few moments then this would be an issue. Calibrations are used to help keep the toner in the cartridges from being packed down, and to make sure the printer is in perfect condition to complete the print job(s) you are sending to the printer.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Cheers! 🙂
