I have an all-in-one PhotoSmart 7510. I have had this device for several years, but only recently, and only in autoscan or auto-copy mode, do I get one red vertical line going down the scan or copy. This problem does not exist when I place the original document directly on the scanning bed. I did not find a fix online that addressed this issue. Just for fun, I tried the solutions in this document, http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01791053. However, none of these solutions worked.

Hi ericellman,
When you left the lid and are looking at the scan glass there is a big pane of glass that is the flatbed. To the left you will see a strip of glass that is separate from the bigger piece, that is the scanner glass for the Automatic Document Feeder.
Let me know how this goes!

Hi ericellman,
I understand you have a Photosmart 7510 that is putting a red line down anything put through the automatic document feeder. I will certainly do my best to help you with this.
On the Photosmart 7510 there is a separate strip of glass that the automatic document feeder (ADF) uses. I would recommend that you get a lint free cloth (paper towel is fine if that's all you have) and some glass cleaner and scrub that piece of glass on the left the ADF uses. If the line persists, try lining the page (face up) with the strip of scanner glass the ADF uses and focus your cleaning on that spot.
Hopefully this allows you to get rid of that line, have a great day!!
