Hey@CR1350,
Thanks for reaching out to HP Support Forums. One stop for all solutions about your HP product. To have the best experience on HP forum, visit our HP Forums Guide to know more.
I was going through your post and would like to help you.
You need assistance in fixing the output tray extender on your printer. Is that, Correct?
The Primary (Paper tray 1) is a fixed type and none of the parts are replaceable for this particular model printer.
If something has broken or fallen off, then I recommend you to contact HP Phone support for the printer replacement as the tray is not a replaceable part.
Use the link below to reach Phone support for further assistance.

I ordered the replacement part for the output tray and have it in my possession.
HP Officejet Pro 8600 Output Paper Tray CM749 -40024
So there must be a way to replace the tray. Can you research this product for installing?
Thank you!
Chris
