My LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn is connect over LAN to my PC running Kubuntu Disco Dingo. Scanner and printer had been initially setup and running. However, after disco dingo or printer updates the scanner is not working anymore.

The command hp-scan is issue error message:

error: SANE: Error during device I/O (code=9)

However, sudo hp-check -r passes without error. The hplip  3.19.1 is installed using apt-get.

How can the problem be analysed in more detail and what are possible root causes.

I own a M176n and have the same problem on debian sid. I found out that I can use the scanner as user root, but as normal user I get that error code 9. Maybe there is a file having wrong permissions?
