Hi Marymartha, looks like your printer is not wirelessly connected. I do need a bit more information from you.

First of all, has this ever worked for you?

Are you trying to use this wirelessly or with a USB cable?

Which model of printer do you have?

Here are a few links to help you determine your model:

Also I need to know what Operating System you have on your computer? Windows, Mac, or Chrome?

Here is a good starting point if it has never worked:

I previously figured this out on my own and I agree this is a fix, PARTIALLY!  But, I was still having offline issues.  The problem of the IP address changing based on non-static settings is well discussed here.  Plenty of directions to make the correction of making your IP address static. Without having to read 22 pages of posts, I'll add that the Printer Port needs to also coincide with the static IP address.  For some reason, I had a bundle of IP addresses in the Printer Port setting but not the static one that I assigned on my NEW wireless router.  From what I could see, the IP addresses that were in the Printer Port seemed to be old IP addresses from previous routers.  WHAT A MESS!  I had to add a new Printer Port and as soon as I did the printer started printing all those print jobs in queue.

Hey Medic1, I looked at what you had to say and printed the IP information from my printer. I noticed that in the Printer settings the IP was off by one. I added a new port with the correct IP address and that fixed my problem.  I can now print from my laptop.  Thanks so much. No one else, including HP, could diagnose the real problem.

I've used the HP Scan doctor and while it did print a test page which I was thrilled about, I soon learned that it wouldn't print what I wanted to print. I have Windows 8 and I'm trying to print using the HP Photosmart C4795. I've turned router, printer, and laptop off which didn't work either. I'm not a happy camper.

Hi profgail,

I understand your frustration. Can you please let me know if you upgraded to Windows 8, or if your computer came with that OS. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,
