Hi Scott, I'm using the HP Scan app for a Mac. I don't see a place to change the settings for file type. "preferences" only leads me rotate or change background color. There is a "Batch" option but only applies a description to all files or allows me to rotate them all -- doesn't allow me to batch as a single file.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks to ScottBrown2011 I have at last worked out the last ingredient in the secret formula. Why do HP not put the method for scanning multiple pages into a single pdf file into their user guide, just look at how many people they have frustrated! Poor customer service by HP.
I am using a Photosmart 7520 and for anyone just entering the debate the steps are:
1. In advanced Settings go to the File tab and remove the tick against "Create a separate file for each scanned page"
In the Select a shortcut, adjust settings dialogue box
2. Keep dpi at 300 or lower
3. Make sure Scan Preview is ticked on the select scan page
4. Click in the miniscule + box under the scan preview box after each page is scanned
Simples! And so intuitive!
