Good evening

I have recently upgraded my operating system from Windows 7 Pro (64 Bit) to Wnidows 8 Pro (64 bit), and have just noted that when scanning to a network folder, the device creates a 0kb file.  There are a number of similar posts I have found and from this I have done:

  1. Turn off Laptop, Device and Router and then turn back on.  In this order and every other order - JIC
  2. Uninstalled the software and reinstalled it using the latest version currently on the HP site for my device
  3. Downloaded and run the scan doctor tool

Could you please provide guidance on what other solutions I should b e trying.  My device is part of my signature.

Many thanks

Cheers Les

Bumped as I have the same issue.

Scanning is fine if I use HP Solution Centre (via laptop) but 0kb if scanning from Officejet Pro 8500.

Cheers.

Hello everyone

I have a few questions about your setups. Is everyone using Windows 8 and the Officejet Pro 8500? On your Windows 8 computers do you have file and folder sharing enabled? Are you using Windows homegroup?

Also, do you have a password for the user account's network folder you are trying to scan to? Using your computer, can you save files into the destination folder?

Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

Hi Travis

Windows 8 and Officjet Pro 8500 909a.

All sharing permissions appear to be set okay. Not using Homegroup.

Scanning worked fine with this printer under both Vista and Windows 7 but not since Windows 8 installed.

Strangely I can scan to my laptop using HP Solution Centre. However when I Scan To Network via the printer itself the file received shows 0kb.

A work-around would be great as using HP Solution Centre is much slower and less convenient.

Thanks.

Howzit

I have admitted temporary defeat on this and have had to roll back to Windows 7 (I was falling too far behind on my company admin - which is heavily reliant on scanning).  But I would consider upgrading again if I feel a solution \ work around was viable.

However, like Alex, scanning to this folder worked fine using a Vista and Windows 7 laptop.  Sharing permissions were set and I was using HomeGroup.  When setting up the Network Filing location it accepted the password for the users account ok.  I was able to save files direct to the location manually.

I did not however try scanning from HP Solution Centre, as is less convenient, but more importantly I did not even consider it :(.

Thanks for your reply.

Cheers Les

Yes

Yes

Are you using Windows homegroup?

Yes

Yes I have a password setup on the folder but in the permissions I granted read/write to everyone.

I can successfully scan to a win 7 machine on the same network but I get the 0kb when I send the file to win 8.
