Hello,

Would anyone be able to assist me in getting the HP LaserJet M5035 MFP device configured for scan to email using LDAP email addresses lookup?

- The printer specs are as follow:

        HP LaserJet M5035 MFP

 > Password:                   =          xxxxxxxx

  > Error message returned:
      Attention!
LDAP verification failed for the following reason(s):   The LDAP server or the connection has failed.

PS

- The scan-to-email is already working with local email address entrered manually at the printer local address book

- The LDAP configuration provided here (plus the credentials) is the same used for Network Kyocera printers for scan-

to-email using LDAP address book look-up and it works fine accessing LDAP and and looking up LDAP email addresses

- Am I missing something in the steps/configuration?

- Are there any specific settings this printer would require in order to authenticate against LDAP for address lookup?

- I have checked various HP scan-to-email documentations without success

- Is there a step-by-step guide availble for the HP LaserJet M5035 MFP / Q7831A to setup scan-to-email with LDAP

   address book look-up?

On a side note I was note I was looking at using HP Web Jetadmin to help manage HP printer  from my workstation and could not find a version that works on Windows 7 x86 (32-bit)

The only version available on HP website for download is the HP Web Jetadmin 10.3 SR7 which is only 64-bit and is a server version. Is there an HP utility that can help me manage HP printers from my Admin workstation?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Lots of info here to sort through, thanks for all the details.

Normally when I configure a printer for LDAP queries all I need are a few basic things:

- Windows Domain

- LDAP server name/IP

- LDAP authentication type

- LDAP credentials needed to complete the email query

- LDAP Search root

- LDAP attributes to filter results on:

-- Custom Atributes

-- Match recipients name with this attribute

-- Attribute name for recipients email

-- Max LDAP Addresses to return

From there we can normally test the connection from the printer or DSS to confirm that it can connect and retreive email info.  The error message you posted below makes it sound like your printer is not able to find the LDAP server or something is disconnecting/unathenticating your requests.  It looks like you have all of the required minimum fields to retrieve emails.

Suggestions:

- If you have server name entered then try the LDAP servers IP Address instead.

- If SIMPLE authenitcation isnt working then try a different auth protocol.

- Fire up a LDP.exe session and try to authenticate and bind to the LDAP server with the same credentials.
