Windows 7 OS 64 bit D110 all in one. Serial number I uninstalled all D110 software and reinstalled I can print. I cannot use the printer screen that says scan to PC. Results in Scan Effor "Try scan from computer or see documentation. Press OK" I can scan a document as I see/hear the D110 scanning but I have no idea where it is saved. I cannot tell if it is even arriving in my computer. When I scan, I am given no option as to where to save the document. Nothing in HP help addresses this problem...which is a new problem. I have not installed any new software or hardware. I can see the D110 in Printers and Devices. The D110 is connected to my Satellite L755 by a USB cable.

Hi Dextery,
Definitely seems odd that you do not have an HP Solution Center. When you installed the software, did you see any error messages during the installation?
In the meantime, let's try scanning without using HP software. Here are some methods:
Video of scanning with Windows Live Photo Gallery
Video of scanning with Paint
Video of scanning with Windows Fax and Scan
Hope one of these methods are helpful!

Hi @Dextery,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that the scanned document is not saved on your PC, and you have no way of specifying where to send the document. With your HP Photosmart D110 printer on Windows 7. And, I am happy to look into this scanning issue for you!
What is the name of the program that you are using to scan with? Or, are you pressing scan on the printer itself?
Can you take a screenshot, and post it here, for me to see? How to take and post a screenshot on HP Support Forum.
In the meantime, I would also suggest to try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know the results!
Thank you for posting, and have a nice day!

The name of the program I am using to scan with. I go to printers and devices and I see the D110 is checked. I click on the printer and up comes the option to scan and click scan and the D110 appears to scan the document but I am not sure it is sending it to my Statellite L755 computer.. On the D110 itself, I can press the scan to PC and the result is the folowing:
Scan Effor. Try scan from computer or see document. Press OK.
You have asked for a screen shot, There is nothing on my computer that a screenshot can be taken of.
I will take a look at HP Print and Scan Doctor

Hi Dextery,
Thank you for your reply!
This could be an issue with the software and/or drivers on the system. I would definitely recommend the HP Print and Scan Doctor, in this case. Please let me know what happens!
Best of luck!

I used the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it got down to using the buttons on the Doctor to remove the software and reinstall. And now I cannot see the D110 in the devices and printers. What do you suggest now?

Hi Dextery,
Please to try the following steps:
- Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
- Unplug the USB printer cable.
- Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
- Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.
- Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
- Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 7).
- Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows. (Wait for the software to tell you to plug in the USB printer cable. Windows can be a little tricky to work with sometimes.)
Hope these steps help!

I have now uninstalled and reinstalled the software and when I scan a document, the small screen on the D110 says "scanned saved successfully" but where in the hell is the scanned saved since I have no idea as to the scanned document name assigned to the scan. Previously, I was able to desiginate where I wanted to save it and I could rename it. Now I know it is saved, but where?

Hi Dextery,
Depending on the type of scan, if it is a Document, should be located in the Documents folder. If it is a Picture being scanned, it should be located in the Pictures folder.
I would suggest trying to scan using the HP Scan software on the computer, by going through the following steps:
- Make sure the printer is turned on and that it is connected to the computer.
- Load the document or photo.
- DocumentWhen scanning a document you can position it directly on top of the scanner glass or you can use the ADF tray (if your printer has one).
- Scanner glassPlace the document print side down on the scanner glass, and then position it according to the guides around the glass (usually on the right-front corner or the left-front corner). Close the scanner lid.
- ADFPlace a single-page or multi-page document into the ADF. The printed side faces up and the top edge goes into the tray first. Adjust the width guides to fit the document.
NOTE:
If your printer does not have an ADF and you are scanning a multi-page document, you will need to load each page on the scanner glass one at a time to scan the document. - PhotoPlace the photo image side down on the scanner glass, and then position it according to the guides around the glass (usually on the right-front corner or the left-front corner). Close the scanner lid.
CAUTION:
Do not load photos in the ADF. Use the scanner glass instead to prevent damage to photos and the printer.
- Open HP Solution Center with one of the following methods:
- Double-click the HP Solution Center icon on your desktop.
- Click the Windows icon (
), click All Programs, click the HP folder, and then click HP Solution Center.
- Select the appropriate scan option for the item you are scanning.
- Choose Scan Document if you are scanning a text document with or without graphics.
- Choose Scan Picture if you are scanning photos or artwork.
The HP Scan Shortcuts screen displays with options to change the scan settings.- What if the HP Scan Shortcuts screen does not display? If the settings screen does not display before the scan starts, a preference was set to bypass the prompt. To adjust settings, follow these steps to turn the prompt back on.
- Cancel the scan, return to the HP Solution Center home screen, and then click Settings.
- Click Scan Settings, and then click the appropriate option from the popup menu: Scan Document Settings or Scan Picture Settings.
- Select the check box next to Prompt for settings at the time of scan, and then click OK.
- Click Home, and then start the scan again.
- Click the appropriate option under Scan Shortcuts.
- What scan shortcuts are available?
- Review the default scan settings for the selected Scan Shortcut, and change any settings as needed.
- To change the basic scan settingsClick the drop-down arrow (
) for the setting that you want to change, and then select the setting you need.
- To change the advanced Photo/Document settingsClick Advanced Picture Settings or Advanced Document Settings, and then select the setting you need.Click Save to file Save Options to change the following settings (depending on your printer):
- Specify the location to send saved scans on the computer
- Edit the file name of the saved scan
- Specify how the HP software completes the scan action:
- Opens the scan file
- Launches Windows Explorer
- Resolution and color settings informationResolution and color settings can impact overall quality of your scan. The following information can help you decide when you need to set custom resolution and color settings for your scan.
- Resolution: This setting is measured in dots per inch (dpi). Higher resolution produces higher quality images because the software uses more pixels per inch in the image. The pixels are smaller and capture greater color detail. However, higher resolution settings increase the output file size of the scan. You might want to use a higher resolution setting if you are scanning photos or documents with graphics that require detail. If you are scanning black and white text, higher resolution is not necessary.
NOTE:
Higher resolution settings require more system resources and increase the time required to complete a scan job. If you have an older computer with limited resources, higher resolution files might cause computer issues. If the scan fails at high resolution, try decreasing the resolution setting. - Color: Use this setting for scanning high quality color photos or documents that have multiple colors.
- Black and white: Use this setting to scan text-only documents and for the best OCR results with black text. It provides the fastest scan speed and the smallest scan file sizes.
- Grayscale: Use this setting for scans that contain continuous-tone or shading, and black and white images. This setting can produce more accurate scans than the Black and White option, but the file size will be larger. Grayscale is the best setting for heavily shaded images.
NOTE:
HP Solution Center versions and options vary depending on your printer. For specific instructions on all the settings the software offers, click the Help button on the screen you are changing settings on. - Click Scan. The scan preview window opens.
- Want to make changes? In the scan preview window, you can perform the following actions:
- Click on the scan to edit it
- Adjust Color (photo only setting)
- Rotate the scan
- Crop the scan
- Lighten or Darken the scanned image
- Auto correct flaws in the scan
- When the scan completes, perform one of the following actions:
- Click the Plus sign (
) on the right side of the window to scan additional pages or add additional photo selections.
- If you are not satisfied with the scan, click the X icon (
) to delete the scanned file, and then click Back to try the scan again.
- Click Finish to save the scanned file.

I do not have a HP Solution Center on my desktop, no do I have a HP Solution Center in my HP folder. The only thing there is HP Help and Support. No other file labeled Solution Center. When I clock on HP Help and support file, I get HP help and support.
Searching for HP solution Center....the return is nothing.
