I have a HP 2515. I found the software to work by placing the photos away from the edge of the scanner. After playing with it for a few minutes I was able to make this work.  I was able to scan four photos at once I was able to send them to four files without cropping.

What a TERRIBLE thing for HP to do!! Someone's head should roll for that!
