When I scan a document, it does not scan the original size of the document but enlarges it. I have tried to reset all the settings but nothing works.

Recent models of Printers and recent versions of Windows...

In general, scanning software / applications will scan a document or image "as is", that is, no size changes are applied.

COPY can perhaps be set to enlarge / shrink the output -- whether the feature is available and the extent to which the size can be changed depends on the printer and the printer software.

Scanning a document or an image that results in a "different" size output might be due to the Page Size (in scanning software).

For example, if your document is 8.5 inches X 11 inches and you set the Page Size to "Entire Scan Area", then your final output (document file) will include a large "white area" boundary that surrounds the original document outline.

To avoid "mis-sized" image / document scans, set Page Size to match the document OR, in the case of using HP Scan Extended  , set Page Size to "Auto Detect Size".

Thankyou. Will try that.

Actually I think it is another problem. When the document is scanned, on the scanning view it shows the whole picture but when I save the scan onto my computer then the format is enlarged. By the way I have a deskjet 2510.

I think I have solved the problem. I downloaded an App on my Mac, HP Easy Scan and now it seems to be fine! Thankyou for your advice.

There is always a risk when we choose to answer questions for which there is missing information.  I have edited my first reply to emphasize that the answer I provided is for Windows.

I am glad you resolved the issue.

Happy Printing!
