Is it possible to scan, when the ink level is out or the cartridges are  out? The ink level warning pops up immediately when the printer is turned on. I only need to scan; not print or copy on this device.

Hello, @Wiminuche – Hope you are well 🙂

Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are looking to scan from your Photosmart printer to your MAC. While I have not tested this, I would recommend you try installing the HP Easy Scan app on your MAC and then try using the app to scan.

Go to http://hp.care/2cXZaB1 to download and install the HP easy scan app.

Once installed, open the app and then try scanning.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂
