Hi @SmittyJB

Welcome to the HP Forums!

It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to copy and getting a message on the front panel saying unable to connect to the server and it is stuck on that screen.

I’d love to help!

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

·         When was the last time the printer was working fine?

·         How is the printer connected to your computer?

·         Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

·         Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Meanwhile, follow below steps and check if it helps.

  1. If the printer is off, turn on the printer, and then check the status of the printer.

    • If the printer starts printing jobs from the print queue, your printer is clearing out queued print jobs and is online. You can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the printer goes to an idle state after its startup routine, it might be online.

    • If the computer still shows the printer as offline, continue using these steps.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  3. Unplug the printer power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 60 seconds. Restart the computer while you are waiting.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  7. If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

  8. Make sure the printer is connected to the computer or the network.

    • Wireless network connection: On the printer, open the Wireless network or Settings menu to make sure the wireless signal is turned on. Make sure the light next to the Wireless icon  is on and steady.

    • Wired network connection: Make sure the cable is connected to the printer Ethernet port  and to an available port on the router. The green link light should be steady, and the orange activity light should blink.

Figure : Connect the cable to the printer and to the router

Connect the Ethernet cable to the printer and to the router
    • USB connection: Make sure the cable is securely connected to the printer and to a working USB port on the computer.

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

Take care!

Cheers!

Thanks Fossette. Tried your suggestions-did not resolve the problem. Print function on the device  has always printed. About five days ago the little screen on the device showed following message: 'Server Connection Error-There was a problem connecting to the Server." As a result, the device still prints, but will not copy. Also the Home Screen and Set Up Buttons will not work. The device is connected to the computer via USB-have tried several USB ports. Also Wireless is enabled-cannot disable Wireless.

Hello, @SmittyJB

I see that you were interacting with @The_Fossette. I'd like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂

I understand that you are facing issues with the Photosmart C410 printer. I'd recommend a full reset on the printer to try and fix the issue. I am sending you a private message with the steps. Please check the mailbox icon at the top right corner of your screen to access your inbox.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

Sorry, your suggested solution did not work. After pressing suggested keys the screen showed: uiaux, Support, VAX2FN1631AR. The only button that then worked is Cancel, after which same Error Message appeared about can't connect to server.

Hello, @SmittyJB

Try to turn off the wireless and then try copying. If you are unable to turn off the wireless on the printer, try to turn off the router. Then restart the printer and try making a copy. This will help us further isolate the issue.

Also, try performing a scan from the software installed on the PC. Open HP scan on the PC and then try scanning. Let me know if that works!

Thanks, I'll watch for your reply!

Cheers 🙂

Thank you.

Could not use Wireless button on the Device to turn off Wireless. Could not dind a way to turn off wireless to printer on UVerse Gateway after opening it up.

Could not Scan with Scan button on Device, but was able to Scan using an App on the Computer.

Note that the Screen which says "Server Connection Error" has an "Exit" option which, when selected, goes to the Quick Forms Screen. No further selections can be made once at that screen.

Hello, @SmittyJB

So the printer can make a scan and also can print. That means that the printer hardware is fine and will be able to make a copy as well.

Did you try turning off the router completely? I know this will terminate the other connections, but this will further help us isolate the issue. Turn off the wireless router completely and restart the printer and check.

If that works, try a network power drain:

1.      Turn off all the devices connected on your network including the PC, Smartphones, printer, modem (if present) and router. Make sure all the devices in the network are turned off / unplugged.

2.      Wait for 2-3 minutes.

3.      Now turn on the modem if present. Wait till all the lights are steady and idle.

4.      Then turn on the router. Again wait for a couple of minutes so that the lights are all steady.

5.      Then turn on the printer and other devices.

That should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

Thanks, but neither of above worked. Same problem exists.

A few minutes after trying your suggested solutions I received the following Error Message on the computer: HTTP Status 400 - expiration: 1495588865000 Current Time: 1495749460086 Request sent by client was systematically incorrect. Don't know if this is related to the printer?
