DeskJet 3630
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The printer is only a few months old and worked properly from the start. Now when I go to print something it starts and will print a few lines then stop do nothing for a bit then spit out the unfinished job. Then after a least 5 minutes it printed another copy of the same( only a few lines) without my input. I have no idea why it has started this and less clues how to fix. Thanks for any ideas.

Hi @Trina1,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that your HP Deskjet 3630 starts printing and then stops, on Windows 7. And, I am happy to help you with this printing issue!

How is the printer connected, Wireless, or USB?

In the meantime, please try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens!

Thank you for the help. I ran the Print and Scan Doctor and it said it fixed a few issues and I then printed the test page which worked fine, but to make sure I then tried to print a phone bill from my email (PDF) and still no joy, just a few lines again. The printer is connected by USB.

Hi Trina1,

You are very welcome!

What happens if you print from another program? Such as: NotePad, or a different PDF viewer, etc.

In the meantime, let's try a hard reset, by following the instructions in this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1

After the hard reset, try printing again, and let me know if the same thing happens or not.

Hi RnRmusic man, a quick update(sorry I don't get to my emails often) after my last message and about 10 minutes later the printer started and printed almost all of the bill from the email and another document that I tried at the same time from "Word" (all of it) that I had saved in my documents. It seems as though the documents were "waiting" in a queue . Why would it do this? At this stage I have not yet tried your latest idea about the reset.

Hi Trina1,

Thank you for your response!

There are a couple of reasons the printer could be doing this. 1) There is a connection issue, between the printer and the computer, or 2) There is an issue with the print spooler on the computer's Operating System.

How is the printer connected, Wireless, or USB?

In the meantime, I would also suggest to try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, to verify everything on the computer is okay.
