With my old Photosmart C6280 there was an icon in the Windows System Tray that I could click on and get to (what is now called) the Printer Assistant. It seems to be missing in the current software, or I'm missing how to find it. How can I get that kind of functionality back?

Greetings @Unofficial

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are looking to get an icon of the printer on the taskbar.

Don't worry, I will be glad to help.

Is the printer working fine?

If you have installed the full feature software of the printer on your computer.

There would be an icon on the desktop of your computer.

Run the printer assistant.

That would create an icon on the taskbar when you have it open.

When you have the icon on the taskbar, do a right-click on the icon and you will see an option to pin to taskbar.

Please click on it and you will have the icon there until you unpin it from the taskbar.

Let me know if this helped.

Not even close.

Some basic Windows terminology:

Taskbar = left hand side of screen

System Tray = right hand side of the screen

As I stated in my original message, I want an icon for the printer assistant to appear in the SYSTEM TRAY. Like the previous software did.

Open programs appear on the taskbar, and I don't want those mixed with icons of programs I might open sometime. It's confusing. I DON'T want an icon to appear in the taskbar until the program is open.

I'm not sure how to make it any clearer.
