you can fool the printer by left the existing printheads there, then press ok to contiue. After it finish & printer will ask

were there inks & you say ye.

I did that countless times before on my Z2100, Z3200.

Try it.

Tried that - but it keeps asking for the service/dummy heads !!

The printer will not let me proceed without putting the service printheads in, I tried to fool the printer but it does not work.

I am an enginner, not a user.  I was after the part number of the service printheads so that I can purge the ink tubes correctly.

just put some tape on the printhead flex and install back them. try this way.

another way is to put some bath towel over the ink conectors to absorb ink, and continue  with set up as normal without PHs, but if plotters asks for printhead click ok, and so on.

I did it before with good results. good luck.

Another method is to just remove the printheads. The plotter does not know if the setup heads are installed since they do not make contact with the flex connectors and only attach where the pin on the printhead goes. A better way to purge the tubes is with a syringe and draw the ink into the syringe.
