#Possible Solution

Because i kept reading and reading for hours to find a solution, and all the support replies in the the thread (and in the other threads) was about "send us a private message". Anyways, i was hoping in my search to find someone who got it solved, and explaining how they managed to, but unfortunate i didn't find any. With that said, as soon as i was lucky enough to get it solved after several guesses and attempts, i decided to explain (from my POV) what the issue is, and how it is solved.

What is the issue?

The issue happens because the printers are usually stored before it get sold, the time the printer spend in the warehouse could be months if not years in case of an old model. And the firmware that is already installed in there is not the most recent, which cause the failure to connect via your mobile or PC HPsmart app. So all what you need is to renew that. I know it sounds stupid, as you would expect that once your new printer connected to Wifi it will update itself, and mine seemed to do that step, but nah, it didn't get the most recent firmware.

How to solve it?

you need 1st to google the exact model name, so you get the link to the it's dedicated page at the HP support website. At my case it is "HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer" so this is what i've typed in google and it got me this page
https://support.hp.com/ie-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-2700e-all-in-one-series/2100187844/model...

The page contain some interesting files, but the most interesting one, is the one at the end, the one listed as "Printer Firmware-Keeps your printer updated with latest fiexs(1)"

Once opened this category, you find it contain a file that is usually have a very recent date (couple of weeks or so) for me it was called "HP DeskJet/Ink Advantage 2700 All-in-One Printer series All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update. Download & run it. it will:

  • Search for the available printers.
  • And once your found, select it (tick the checkbox) and proceed.
  • It will take few minutes, and you will hear your printer making some noise as if it is restarting.
  • Once that is done, it will print a page titled "Device Update Report Firmware Version: xxxxxxxx".

Congrats. If you now kill the HP Smart app, and re-run it again, everything will run just fine. Not only that, at my case the HP Smart app UI looked very different!!! as if it loads it's content from the printer itself!!

I hope this helps someone.

Cheers,
-m

Why must folks always send a private message? If so many of us have the same problem, can't you just share the solution here? I have tried:

Facebook (tells me to send a private message via Messenger)

Facebook Messenger (can't help me because they are in the USA and I am in Spain)

Spanish HP tech support website (tries to send a technician to my house for which I have to pay)

How can it be this difficult to subscribe to Instant Ink and give you my money?

I have this problem too !! Wont let me finalise the subscription
