I purchased a "floor model" printer some time ago and used it for printing from a computer.  I thought if I eventually read the manual I would figure it out. Nope.

The only button on the touchpad that works is the '?' (Help) button and then the "return arrow" will show up on the other side of the touchpad. Otherwise, the function buttons do not work.

Is it stuck in a Demo mode? If so, how do I disable it.  Do I have a non working touchpad?  I can't find any instances of this model having an issue. Great printer when used from the computer but scanning and printing are needed now.

Normally you would reset the defaults from the control panel.  In your case you would want to setup the printer on your network and connect into its EWS (Embedded Web Server).  From here tehre shoudl be an option to restore the defaults and wipe out any customizations the store may have made to disable the screen.

If that doesnt work then you have to consider either contacting HP for warranty support or swapping the display/control panel with another and see if the current CP is defective.  Swapping CPs is fairly easy to do on newer models as they often need a single screw and USB connection to move them around.  Steps on this process are documented in the Service Manual if you have questions.
