Hello,
I just installed and began using the M1136. While the printer and the copy function work fine (a scanned doc immediately gets printed), I am unable to scan and save a document onto my system.
From whatever I read on forums, I'm supposed to find a HP Director /Scan To program/function which will help me scan and save files but I am unable to source them as well.
Any tips/ help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi M_Mand,
Thanks for providing me with that information that you still can't find any HP software on the computer.
You can also scan by using Paint on your computer. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint.
I have provided you with the URL for downloading and installing the Full Feature Software for the printer. This will allow you to scan through the HP Software.
HP LaserJet Pro M1136 Multifunction Printer Drivers.
Select your operating system, click next and click on the software to download and install.
If you have any questions or issues, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank You.

Hi @M_Mand , I see that you are unable to save the scans, they are automatically printing. I can help you.
This information has been provided by the LASERJET PROFESSIONAL M1130/M1210 User Guide on page 98.
Scan by using HP LaserJet Scan: (Windows)
1. In the HP program group, select Scan to to start HP LaserJet Scan.
2. Select a scanning destination.
3. Click Scan.
Scan by using HP Director: (Mac)
Use page-by-page scanning.
1. Load the original that is to be scanned face-down in the document feeder.
2. Click the HP Director icon in the dock.
3. Click the HP Director, and then click Scan to open the HP dialog box.
4. Click Scan.
5. To scan multiple pages, load the next page and click Scan. Repeat until all pages are scanned.
6. Click Finish, and then click Destinations.
Scan to file:
1. In Destinations, choose Save To File(s).
2. Name the file and specify the destination location.
3. Click Save. The original is scanned and saved.
Scan to e-mail:
1. In Destinations, choose E-mail.
2. A blank e-mail opens with the scanned document as an attachment.
3. Enter an e-mail recipient, add text, or other attachments, then click Send.

Is the USB cable connected directly to the computer? (hub, docking station)
If you are using 10.9, here is a document for how to Scan from OS X v10.9 Mavericks Without HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately, my problem still persists.
I have a Windows OS and understand that I should use HP Program group to scan files, but I can not locate HP Program group on my system. Neither is it available on the support page for my printer.
Please let me know how I ought to go about this. Thank you.

Hi M_Mand,
What version of Windows are you using? (Windows 7, Windows 😎
I have provided the manual for the Laserjet M1136. On page 98 it provides the steps for scanning.
For Windows, you would use the HP Scan To software. You can just do a search for HP Scan To on the computer.
Hope this helps.
Thank You.

Hi Gemini02,
I have gone through the manual. My problem is that my system (surely) does not have the required software - HP Scan To/ HP Program Group.
I have a Windows 7 OS. It would be great if you could tell me how I can get the required software.
That'll hopefully be my last query. Thanks for your patience. 🙂
