hp photosmart 6520
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

When I print on regular paper, it prints perfectly, but when I print or copy on cardstock I only get about 3/4 of the page printed. It sounds like it is printing, but it takes much longer for the paper to emerge from the exit. It is almost like it is printing on nothing and then it finds the cardstock and prints the last half to 3/4's of the paper.  Help! I need my printer to print certificates for school on card stock!

Make sure that your cardstock does exceed 200 g/m² (110 lb index maximum).

The card stock I use is 110lb. Any other suggestions?

If you can, try using cardstock that is not at the printer max.

One other thing is to make sure the rollers are clean.

I understand that your Photosmart 6520 seems to be printing on cardstock, but only 3/4 of the image is printed on the page.

It sounds as though you are correct, the printer is attempting to feed the cardstock, but it having difficulties feeding the media through the paper path.

I am including a specs sheet on this device so you may compare the media you are using to the acceptable media weight for the device: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Photosmart-6520-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5169038/model/516...

Typically, this issue you are experiencing is related to the printer not being able to bend the cardstock around the paper path.  Most users are able to print any light cardstock up to 110lb. This HP e-All-in-One Printer does support card stock of up to 110lb Index.

You can try;

  1. Ensuring you have specified "cardstock" is loaded from your print driver before executing the print job. The following document will explain how to configure the Photosmart driver. *please note that even though this document is written for an alternate photosmart printer, the print driver settings will be similar in addressing your issue*

  2. verify if the media brand you are using has a "feed this edge first" markation on the original packaging. The fibres in the media can cause issues with the media feeding correctly, or jamming frequently.
  3. HP offers support videos on the Printer Support YouTube channel. you might find some helpful videos to assist you in troubleshooting the issue. I have compiled a list of Photosmart videos which may be useful: https://www.youtube.com/user/HPPrinterSupport/search?query=photosmart
