Hi cardinal9918-
Uninstalling/reinstalling HP printer control app will not affect the scan app. HP Scan and Capture is a separate entity altogether and you should be able to uninstall/reinstall it separately.

Hi Helen(hdoc98),
Your best bet would be to summarize your issue and start a whole new post on the Scanning / Faxing forum. This thread was specific to Windows 8 and the new HP Scan and Capture app. There's a lot of smart folks monitoring the mian forum that would be able to help you with your Windows 7 desktop scanning questions.

HP Scan and Capture solved a scanning problem I tried to resolve for a whole day. I have HP's C310 Photosmart Printer, but couldn't get the HP Solution Center operational so now am able to scan utiizing HP Scan and Capture - a solution until I get another printer.

Hi Jeremy:
Have just bought a Windows RT laptop and noticed that the HP Scan and Capture App that I downloaded does NOT discover my OfficeJet 4500 which sits on my WiFi network. The Laptop discovered the 4500 without any hassles when it automatically loaded the HP Printer Control App and it prints fine. But I need to also Scan docs. Please HELP!!! Thanks,
Karl

Hi Karl-
Unfortunately that model is not supported in the current version of our HP Scan and Capture app. Support for this is still a work in progress for us. I would offer the desktop solution for Scan to you, but you did mention you are running an RT device, which is ARM based, and we do not have desktop solution for RT/ARM devices.
You might have limited success with scanning out of the Embedded Web Server for your device using WebScan. I do understand this is a very limited solution, but could allow you to scan to your device:

I wish I could be the bearer of better news here...

Thanks for your sincerity Jeremy, appreciate it. Unfortunately the EWS page for the Officejet 4500 AIO has a very, very limited set of options - only Information and Networking among the tabs on the top to choose from. There is no Scan, Fax, Tools or anything else. Is there some firmware that I can download for the 4500 in order to get those options? If not, what are my options for scanning using my new machine? None? And when do you believe HP will build its compatibility into the app?
Thanks,
Karl
