Folks, if you are having an issue with HP Scan and Capture not available for download in the Microsoft App store, please let us know what Region you have your computer set to, and we will investigate.
As a workaround, you could temporarily change your region to "United States" or something that does work, then find the app in Microsoft App store. You can change your region in Control Panel / Clock, Language, and Region.

Hi Cobus,
Our next HP Scan and Capture release will fix this problem, and the app will show up in all regions/markets as long as you have your language set to one that we support. In the interim, you should be able to temporarily set your region to a supported one (such as United States), and the app store will show the app. Download/install, and then restore your region setting.

I have had nothing but terrible luck with this app. It does not work at all and I would like to go back to some other HP scanning option. I have the officejet 4620 series printer and I can print and fax okay, but the scanning does not work worth a darn and that app is terrible.

Hi Helen,
Unfortunately no your device model is not currently supported with our Windows Store app as of yet. However, you still can download the Winodws 8 desktop driver and software solution from HP's support page for your device. It would give you the same functionality as you had on Windows 7.

Hi cardinal9918,
Your OJ 4620 is supported by this app. I assume you have your 4620 connected via network (either wired or wireless), correct? USB connectivity is not supported at this time. If it is network connected, does your device show up when you go to setttings/select device? And if so, does it attempt to scan and fail?
You can always use the traditional desktop drivers and software for your 4620 on Win 8 as you would have on Windows 7. All the WIA apps such as "Windows Fax & Scan" will work as they used to. HP's support website has these drivers and software available for download.

That is what I ended up using was windows scan and fax. For some reason the HP app can see my printer when I pick the scan app portion of the HP printer control app, and I go into settings and pick the printer, but when I try to scan, it tells me that it cannot find the printer. I worked on this for hours and hours and could not get it to work.....very frustrating. I may give it another try, since I actually disconnected and reinstalled my printer just to eliminate that as an issue.
