Is the lack of OCR capability the reason when I save a scanned document the document as it appears on the screen doesn't come out in the saved document? I have saved a scanned document several times but when I open it the document is just letters and symbols. I didn't have an issue with my 5510, it was great. I just got the 6520 and am having fits - not happy at all....

I have an old HP F380, had an error message on the panel with an E, that was fixed. I bought new toner, and it printed the sheet. I cannot scan now, or print.
I also, ran or downloaded the new drivers for the printer. It will feed, but will not print.
Error on your hp said that the door was open. I closed that and still nothing is going on. I have Windows 8 on the lap top.

Hello again, Jeremy:
I now also have a Windows 8 PC and seem to have the same problem with the 4500. The device (networked) has been discovered and I can print just fine. But I still cannot scan - it cannot detect the scanner. I have tried many times to install the latest HP software for the 4500 on your site, but just cannot install it! Problems, problems.... Please help with your suggested desktop fix for the scan. Thanks much!

Hi Karl-
I found that there is an installer for basic drivers for both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 8 on HP's support page. I'd recommend downloading the basic version that matches your system, and give that a try. The Basic drivers will give you WIA functionality for Scan, so that you should be able to use Windows Fax & Scan application to do your scanning. If you are having problems installing the basic drivers, please provide more details to the nature of the failure.
Thanks
Jeremy

I can't get this to work. I have a "plain old" Laser Jet 3050. The app cannot locate it. I've tried the Windows 8 Fax and Scan app by Microsoft and it does not work either. My old XP Pro computer works fine. What can I do short of buying a new scanner (which I'd prefer not to do). This is worse than applying for Obamacare.

Hi billBO50
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
I hope this helps.

I have a photosmart C4750. Windows 8 is not finding printer even though I can print, but I cannot scan. I downloaded the HP print and scan doctor and also the full driver software following all instructions. However, when I try to run the download application, a box opens extracting to 100%, then nothing happens.
