Hello @Woody47 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see you are looking into the Envy printer series.  I would like to help.

The main difference behind the numbering system is to designate where they are sold.  For more information, I would recommend the specification guide:

Thanks, I don't wish to sound cheeky but its hard to imagine a less helpful answer to a very straightforward question. A link to the product spec for one of the 2 printers mentioned does not answer the question "what is the difference between the two?".

To clarify: there is no difference? Or there is one but you aren't willing to tell us?

Haven't had any dealings with HP for a decade, somehow gratifying to see your knack for obfuscation hasn't changed 🙂

Here is the 5532 support page

Read over the pages and check the specifications for yourself and make your decision.

Thanks so much for your eminently helpful reply. If only I'd thought of spending 30 seconds Googling and looking at the product pages I wouldn't have bothered registering witht this pointless, sorry,  helpful and supportive forum.

Wait, hang on, perhaps I do myself and the OP a disservice. Perhaps we, and doubtless several thousand others, had already looked at those pages to find it looks very much like there's no difference at all, scratched our heads at the price discrepancy, and then thought "HP's 'help' pages are worse than Microsoft's, I wonder if there's any one we can ask for a straight answer?"

It seems on reflection that maybe we should have joined the other 9998 people affected in concluding "I think I'll buy that Canon after all".

There does still burn within me a candle of hope that some kind soul may defy company policy to actually supply some sort of information and put us out of our misery, but that glimmer is fading.

According to the consumer organisation Which.co.uk, the 5532 is "exactly the same as the HP Envy 5530, but with the 5532 you get an extra set of ink cartridges included in the box."

Hope this helps!

Fantastic, thank you so much SLawrie, that does indeed help a lot.

I regret to tell you however, your succinct and helpful answer has left you unsuccessful in your interview for HP customer service... 😉

Thank you Honor student for persisting with your question. I spent ages comparing the specs of these two printers to no avail. Problem solved.

I am looking at buying hpENVY and have the same question.

I have obviously come to the wrong place based on what I have read in this thread.

Assuming the difference is a spare set of ink cartridges I am now left wondering why my local store has 5532 at £99 and and 5530 reduced from £109 to £69 in 9/2014.

ie the one without the cartridges was £10 more but is now £30 less.

To those searching for differences I sugggest new glasses.

I found one -

In addition to the WiFi connection, the ENVY 5532 Inkjet Printer also includes a USB port which allows you to connect wired devices.

Well done Martin, and thanks for the glasses suggestion. You have now increased the available information in this forum by 100%, I suggest no-one add anything else, it's in danger of becoming useful. Moderator?

I did finally buy a 5530 although by the time I got round to it I'd lost all enthusiasm and it's still in the box. If I ever get round to getting it out I'll let everyone know..... Actually wait, no I probably won't.

Merry Christmas
