I have a HP Photosmart 5520 printer. Since some days everytime when I start my PC, the printer automatically starts printing a document. It is always the same document.
I think it is something that stays in the memory.
I can't get it away. Turning off and on the printer doesn't help. There are no documents wainting to be printed.

Hi @ivux,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you the same document continues to printout on your HP Photosmart 5520 Printer. I would be happy to help and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.
I see that when you reboot the computer is doesn't fix the issue, I know how frustrating this must be for you.
Is the document something you have sent to be printed previously or is it a diagnostic page for the printer?
If the document is one of yours, it is likely corrupted. To try to resolve this please follow the steps in the order presented.
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- If you have any work open in the software you printing from, save your work. Your current print jobs will be lost and will need to be printed again later.
- Search Windows for services, and click Services in the list of results.
- Scroll through the list of services and find the name Print Spooler.
- Right-click Print Spooler and select Stop.Figure : Stop selection for Print Spooler Service
- After the service has been stopped, close the service window and use Windows Explorer to browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS.
- Delete all files inside the PRINTERS folder.
- Restart your computer.
- Turn on your printer.
- Try printing again and note what happens.
- If the printer prints, you are done.
- If the print job becomes stuck again, continue to the next step.
Hard reset:
- Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
- Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
- Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
PC clean up:
- Disk cleanup in Windows 10
- Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. It is always a good idea to back up your data before proceeding.
- System file check (SFC) Scan and Repair System Files & DISM to fix things SFC cannot.
- Perform Clean Boot in Windows 10 / 8 / 7
- Reboot the computer to see if the document tries to print again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck! 🙂
