Hi,

I'm back once again in this troublesome issue. I had to reinstall the OS on a Vista PC to be able to get the HP multifunction printer to work. But then my old Vista PC gave in and I now have this new Win 7 pro laptop that nicely install all the HP driver package and works as far as printing goes, but won't work when I try to scan. So I am back in this solution seeking pursuit... 😞

One question: where do I find the %TEMP%?

Regards

Try to find the link to that HP help page; it gives the whole procedure.
The answer is in the link that I posted earlier. I don't exactly remember. I think you can find it using the 'Start Button'; type it into the 'Search Programs and Files' window.
When you locate this file delete the contents and reboot. Then reinstall the driver package.

Henry: Thanks once again. I guess I was bewildered by the %-signs... The HP printer/scanner is up and working now! :generic:

My problem was repeated "Incomplete Installation" error messages upon trying to open HP Service Center after many attempts at driver downloading and seemingly complete installation.
I was trying to load drivers for an Office-Jet 6310xi All-In-One printer onto a Windows 7 desktop.
Eventually, I located a solution page that led me through several sequential approaches to the solution. The 3rd one worked; it involved locating and deleting all files in %TEMP%, then downloading and installing, once again.
I tried to explain this in my 1st posting and include a link to the helpful page.
My note to you was to bring to your attention that in my experience finding the driver that fit my need was trivial...the hard part was getting a successful installation! (I suspect the very 1st download attempt failed because the HP server wit in the middle. I did not notice that the download was saved as 'partial', and tried to run the corrupt download. This put corrupted HP files in the hidden %TEMP% folder which remained there after a simple uninstall of the HP driver package, and prevented proper installation of the uncorrupted download. I imagine that other users may have the download quit, and like I, have it RUN and thereby corrupt the computer without their knowledge. They might think that they just selected the wrong driver, but the problem is deeper.)
Last, I tried to speed up my computer by removing some apps from the Start up

To continue:
I removed some HP files and this caused Solution Center to stop opening and to give the original 'incomplete installation' error message.
I hope this helps someone.

I have an HP Deskjet 4500 all-in-one printer.  I recently changed my computer to Windows 7 , but have lost my setup disc for the printer.  Although I have successfully dowloaded a driver from your website, I have not been able to download the HP Solution Centre, so cannot clean, align, or check ink levels.  Can you help?

As far as i know, there is one driver package for this printer that includes Solution Center. Go tho the HP driver webpage and enter the printer model and Windows 7 operating system.
Download and install the driver package and I think HP Solution Center is one of the apps. I think it contains Tool Box (but it might not work too well at reporting the ink status).

On my printer the words "Print Cartridge(s) missing or not detected". Why is this happening? IT's an HP C4380.
