Trying to print photos from Windows Photo Gallery. Print job looks as if it goes to the queue, but does not actually print. Fax prompt window pops up as if I were preparing to fax. Do I now have to disable the fax in order to print photos? I take phone calls and faxes on the same phone line.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this. What kind of printer do you have? Most of the printers have a fax version and regular version when you install them. If the fax version is selected, the send fax dialog comes up. Make sure the fax version isn't set as default.

I am using an HP 6500 All-in-One E709n.
Pls advise procedure for installing as regular version rather than fax version, as aforementioned in your first response. I followed installation CD instructions that came with the printer, so not sure why there would be two different versions. Thanks.

Whenever you install the software, it installs both. The fax version is just a different conduit. I would just make sure you select the one that does not say fax.

If doesnt work
Right click on the printer icon > Properties > Ports and select the name of the printer icon which is not the fax version.

1: I am sorry about the inconvinience.
The reason you find a check mark on a printer icon is to indicate that its a default printer. If the fax icon has a check mark, everytime you print a fax template will come up.
SOlution: Just right click on the other icon and select it as the default printer.
2: Black lines while printing photos.
CLick on the link below and check if the solution helps you.

I have the same problem as the previous poster: the fax screen comes up when we try to print. Like the last poster, I have verified that the fax option is NOT checked. Just to be clear: The printer option is checked, yet the problem persists. What should be done AFTER it's verified that the printer option is checked?
