How about posting it again so people do not have to stumble through six pages of this forum question looking for it?

It's on page 6. Just do a little scrolling. Thanks.

I don't think setting printer preferences to borderless is a univeral fix.  The borderless option I found was under Print Quality, not Advanaced, and that option was not compatible with printer letters, as it applied to photos.  Perhaps my printer preferences are difference because I'm still on Vista.

Still searching in Dec 2013 for a fix to this problem, despite 7 pages of Forum comments on it.

   Hello becky222:

There will probably never be a complete fix for this problem.  It has all the signs of a memory leak.  Very difficult (read costly) to find and rectify.

I tried your suggestion before I posted.

No. It didn't work.

I'm thinking it's because it seems to be DOCUMENTS not photos that the problem occurs.

**Note - if I print 2 or more documents one after the other, I do NOT get a blank sheet after each document. Only after the last one is finished printing.

I agree with you!  It doesn't work with documents and you get the error message.

I'm still having a problem too.

These "simple fixes" do not work for everyone.

The borderless doesn't help with documents.  Only pictures. And this problem doesn't happen when you print pictures anyway, only documents.

Documents are not just documents, there is generally a specific format for a document.  Maybe it is time we track which kind(s) of documents produce the Phantom Blank Page.

  1. MS Word (.doc and .docx types)
  2. MS Wordpad
  3. MS Works
  4. WordPerfect
  5. OpenOffice
  6. Rich Text Format

Just to name a few......

I followed the instructions, but I didn't have the Repair option, perhaps because I'm still on Vista. So instead I uninstalled and then ran setup again from the printer disk. This seems to have fixed it. Thanks! Your solution at least led me in the right direction. All those HP updates I let auto-install must have caused this problem. At least now, I know I can go back and reinstall from the printer disk if it happens again.

Glad to hear it seems to be fixed.  Unfortunately, there are 7+ pages of issues with this problem and it often reappears.  Please let us know if it does.

Re: Why does my hp 8600 plus printer spit out an extra (blank) page after printing a single page?
