After removing the virus we had, 8 months later, we are still rolling the way we should with no extra paper coming out.  We haven't updated anything. Firmware or otherwise.  The ONLY updates I allow are for virus & malware.

Thanks for the update.  You are one of the lucky few.

Same problem here with OJ 6700.  Attempt to print MS Word single page doc, HP OJ 6700 prints extra blank page.  Solved it by updating firmware.  Go to  HP Drivers for your model and install.  It worked for me.  Could be the same problem across some/most of the HP range.

Thank you for your suggestion.  We have already updated firmware.  It did not work for our printer.  It may not work for yours, as well.  Use it for 30 days and report back.

Regards.

Sorry it was a 'no go' Michael.  Will keep you posted.  BTW every HP printer I have ever had has been quirky - I wonder what the next one will do.

You are right Michael.  The Phantom Page is back.

OK, someone figure this out!

I have a Win7 with Office 2010.  HP6700 prints phantom pages, even when I print one blank page (no ink on paper).  My wife has a Win8.1 with Office 2007. I tested a blank page print on hers - no phantom page.  Then tested mine again. NO PHANTOM PAGE!

Let's see how long it takes for mine to return to the phantom.

I had this problem & tried all the other fixes to no avail. This is how I solved the problem.

click on start & then devices & printers

Right click hp officejet 8600 pro and go down to printer properties

Go to advanced.    At the bottom of the page click print processor.....

Change the settings from winprint to hpzppw71  default data type to raw.

click ok then apply

this fixed the problem for me

Hope it helps

Thanks for your input.  This may only be a temporary fix.  Please check back with us in 30 days and let us know if it remained corrected.

Bill_3297,

Wonderful suggestion. My 8600 would spit out whatever # of pages were in the print file......ALL BLANK. No rebooting of any kind would help. Followed your suggestions and VOILA all problems fixed. Thanks much.
