Officejet Pro 8600 (341664)
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Both the printer and fax are working fine. I'm just wondering why they both have (341664) after the name in the Systems Preference Printers and scanners. I also would like to delete all the completed jobs.

Thanks @nancybl,

Apple has this document: Mac OS X: Removing information about completed print jobs - maybe this is what you need?

Evening @nancybl,

I would be more than happy to answer your questions about your Officejet Pro 8600 print queue.

It's usually just an identifier number - depending on the model it could be part of the serial number or part of the media access control address (MAC address) for the printer. It should not impact the functionality of the printer - it's used when you have 2 identical printers, so you can identify which is which.

For you second question, the completed jobs  should automatically be deleting from the printer queue. If they are stuck, I would suggest trying the steps in Print Jobs Stuck in Print Queue (OS X). Also you should check for software updates for your Mac.

Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue by clicking the Accept Solution, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,

Thanks for your input on what the numbers might mean. I'll look into that. As for the completed jobs, each job does not show after it is printed-- it's the list of completed jobs in the menu bar-- it goes back for an entire year! How do I get rid of that list?

Hi @nancybl, thanks for replying.

When you say they appear in the menu bar - which menu bar? Are you refering the Notification Center?

Thanks,

When I'm printing, the printer name is in the menu bar at the top of my computer screen; under "Window", there is a dropdown menu that says Show Completed Jobs.
