red began not printing so I replaced the cartridge in my HP Officejet Pro All in One 8500 series printer.  So I replaced the cartridge (even though it wasn't empty yet - but close).  The other colors are prints (and also needed replacing) but now my red won't print.  If I let the printer sit for a bit it may print a little red for the first few lines but after that it loses the red all together.

WHY??!!!

Hi charttonj, sorry to hear that you are having issue's with printing red.  Are you by chance using refilled ink or Genuine HP ink cartridges?  Refilled ink can cause issues with the printer.  Here is a document that I think will help you with this issue.  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01980797

If you are still having issue's ,please feel free to write back and I will do more research for you.

Thanks in advance

Any thoughts as to why a brand new, low page count wont print red? The printer reports low on black toner.

Appreciate anyone's thoughts on how to resolve this.

thank you!

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model?  Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen?

I have the C7100 series. Takes ink #2 and I just replaced all the ink with brand new ink and now it only prints yellow, green, and blue. I have re-aligned and cleaned with no resolution.

I am having the same problem - have an HP OfficeJet 6600, just installed new HP ink cartridges, but not getting red or yellow.  Do I need to get more cartridges??
