Upgraded to Windows 10 today.

My old HP Photosmart 7350 which was recognized by Windows 8.1 is not "seen" by Windows 10.

I tried to substitute the HP Deskjet 5550, which was recommended for Windows 8.1, but to no avail.

Is there a fix?

Hello @walterelyon,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! Smiley Happy I see you have recently upgraded to Windows 10, and it is not seeing your HP Photosmart 7350 on the network.

After researching the software and drivers, the last full feature software and drivers were for Windows XP. I see you have tried to install using an alternate print driver with no success:

Installing the Printer With an Alternate Driver in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection

I suggest contact our technical support at www.hp.com/contacthp/ to look at all compatible options for your Win 10 OS. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

I hope this helps!

Thanks,

I would like to join this conversation if I may. First of all HP no longer provides support for this printer ( I have just tried). Also how is a win 7 install going to help. My win 10, on a brand new HP Envy x360 only sees the printer (on a USB) as a USB device and not a printer. I can't even change its status.

Ran into this problem a while back with Win 7 and a Photosmart 1215.  Found a suggestion to try 990C driver.  It worked OK so I tried same driver with my 7350 and Win 10. So far it prints out text files OK.  Don't expect it to be perfect.  At least you can use your printer for a while longer.

Yes this workaround worked for me!  HP Deskjet 990C driver works for my HP photosmart 7350 printer with Window 10 OS!

Thank you!

@jpkos,

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! 🙂 I understand you are unable to install your HP Photosmart 7350 to your Windows 10 Computer.

There are no software and drivers available for the older  model printer that are compatible with Windows 10. If you are unable to install the printer using the built in driver. (My earlier recommendation.) Then I would suggest contacting

our technical support at www.hp.com/contacthp/. They will be able to give you all available options. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

I hope this helps!

Setting HP deskjet 5550 series HPA as driver worked for me (for the 7350).

I changed the current driver of the "print queue" (sorry no idea how this is namen in English). This was the only one displayed as unknown or not working (device manager).

(Hope i remember it correctly; there were 3 drivers, one USB-Con, which i did not change, and  2 others, one of those i did change 😄 )

After i changed this driver, the printer was listed as printer, and not as "device"

I fear the solution in the 7 replies below (or above if this goes on the bottom)no longer works. I recently got an upgrade to Windows10 which detects that my printer is a 7350 and puts a message up: "Current printer is unavailable. Select another printer". It then gives a list of printers, mostly pdf etc. Clicking on 5550 or 990c (which I have been using) brings up the message again. It seems Microsoft has junked all our 7350s unless we can get back to Windows 7, and I am past the grace period for doing that. What a disgusting outfit Microsoft is - I still haven't forgiven it for junking Lotus123 which, for me, is a million times better than Excel!

Here's how I got mine to work:

1. Click 'Add a new printer or device'

2. Click 'The printer that I wanted isn't listed'

3. Choose 'Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings'

4. Click Next

5. Choose 'Use an existing port' and pick DOT4_nnn from the dropdown, where nnn is an available number

6. Click Next

7. Choose HP from the list of manufacturers and HP Photosmart 5520 series... from the list of printers

8. Click Next

9. Complete any remaining questions.

NOTE:  Be sure to run Windows Update to download the latest printer drivers before the above steps.

Finish configuring both printer properties and printer preferences.  If you are using the two-sided hardware accessory, be sure to change it from uninstalled to installed in the properties. This worked for me as of 30 minutes ago.

Many thanks to jbird68 who tracked this down.
